The Hong Kong prize is a prestigious award to encourage scientific researchers and innovators in the region to continue exploring frontier fields, establish their research base in Hong Kong and serve the nation and the world. Each year, the prize is awarded by an independent jury of renowned scholars and experts to recognise pioneering achievements in scientific research. The HK prize has been a strong inspiration to scientific researchers and innovators to continue their innovative exploration, establish their research base in Hong Kong, serve the nation and the world, as well as provide an impetus for them to further transform and translate their research achievements for the benefit of society.
In addition to the monetary reward, the winner also receives an engraved gold medal and an official certificate, which they can use for promotional purposes. They are also expected to attend a ceremony at the Hong Kong Palace Museum to receive their prize.
During the ceremony, the winner is congratulated on their outstanding achievements and encouraged to share their research knowledge with Hong Kong people. This year, there were nine artists on the shortlist from Hong Kong, which is the most represented city in the history of the prize. Two-thirds of the shortlist were women, a record in the history of the prize.
BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize, established in 2022 and title sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, is a prestigious award to honour outstanding young scientists who have performed remarkable research work. The prize is open to any field of scientific research, including artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and energy, and advanced manufacturing. Each year, the prize will be awarded to no more than five persons.
