Domino’s Dominoes Arrangements Are More Than One-and-A-Hundred Times the Size of the World

When you think of domino, chances are you picture a line of dozens or even hundreds of small oblong pieces, each marked with a single set of 0-6 pips in each half, used to play a game of strategy and chance. It’s a simple and fun family activity that kids love to do — but it doesn’t take long to discover that a single domino can knock over things that are more than one-and-a-half times its size.

When Lily Hevesh first began playing with her grandparents’ classic 28-piece set, she loved setting up a line of dominoes in a straight or curved line and flicking the first one to watch it cascade over the rest of the pile. She eventually became so skilled at creating her own domino setups that she has earned a reputation as a professional “domino artist,” and creates elaborate displays for TV shows, movies, events, and her YouTube channel.

Hevesh’s creations can include 3-D structures like towers and pyramids, grids that form pictures when they fall, or even intricate symmetrical patterns like her Rainbow Spiral, which requires 12,000 dominoes. She also builds custom arrangements for film and television projects, including the Guinness World Record-holding circular domino display for the album release of pop star Katy Perry.

As you can see in the video above, Hevesh takes great care in her work and spends hours planning each domino track before beginning construction. She then tests each section of a display and films it in slow motion to refine the design until it works as intended. This meticulous process has helped Hevesh become a master at her craft and create spectacular domino setups that can take several nail-biting minutes to complete.

Domino’s commitment to technology is a key part of the company’s success, and why the chain has been able to overcome many hurdles in recent years, including the slowdown in US growth discussed in Update 1. It is not unusual for Domino’s to roll out new ways for customers to order pizza, from texting an emoji to using devices like Amazon Echo.

Domino’s leadership believes that by focusing on what matters most to customers, the company can continue growing and expanding worldwide. This strategy includes a focus on the company’s core business, delivering fresh, quality food at a quick pace while remaining consistent with their brand identity. And it’s working — Domino’s has seen a 40% increase in global revenue in the last five years, while their competitors have struggled to maintain their momentum. That is why Domino’s continues to invest in the future, and why it’s so excited about the opportunity to double its number of locations by 2025. As a result, it plans to open up 25,000 stores globally by then. It’s a goal that could not be achieved without the support of its franchisees and loyal customers.
