How to Play Baccarat

Baccarat

Baccarat is one of the most popular casino games. It’s a game of chance that can be played at casinos worldwide, and it’s also available online. The goal of the game is to form a hand whose point value is closer to 9 than the Banker’s. Card values are as follows: 2s through 9s count face value, tens and picture cards count zero, and the Ace counts 1.

The game is dealt from six- or eight-deck shoes of cards. The player receives two cards, and a third card may be given to the Banker. When all of the cards are dealt, players count their points and determine which hand is closest to nine. The winner is the one who has a hand with the highest point value.

There are many different variations of the game, but most of them follow the same basic rules. In each round, the player on the right of the dealer and the player on the left of the dealer are dealt two cards.

These cards are then compared with the banker’s two cards. If the player or the banker has a hand that’s better than the banker’s, then they pay out their bets. If the player or banker has a hand that’s worse than the banker’s, then the game is a stand-off and no money is exchanged.

When the player’s and banker’s hands have equal points, they are shown together. Then the player may choose to stand or take another card. If they do, the dealer will deal another card to the player and another to the banker.

After all of the cards have been dealt, players can place bets on their chosen hand. They can bet on the Banker’s hand, the Player’s hand, or on a Tie. If the player or banker has gotten a tie, all of their bets are paid out 8 to 1.

The Banker’s Hand is Dealt

Once all of the players have placed their bets, the dealer deals two cards to each player. The first two Player Hand cards are given to the player who made the largest wager. The second two Player Hand cards are given to the banker.

Often, the Banker will then draw a third card. This will either be to the Player or Bank Hand, depending on the house rules.

If the Player draws a 3 or 4, the Banker will draw on a 0-4 score, and stay on a total of 5 or 6. This is called a “draw.” The winning Player Hand bets are paid out 1 to 1.

The Tie Bet

The majority of Baccarat games offer a tie bet. This is a bet that the Player and Banker will end up with the same value, and typically pays 8 to 1. It can be tempting to bet on this, but be sure not to forget that the casino will charge a 5% commission on this bet. This is what makes the game so profitable for the casino.
