Domino is a flat, thumbsized rectangular block with one side bearing from one to six pips (also called dots), and the other blank or identically patterned. 28 such dominoes form a complete set. Dominoes can be used to play a variety of games. These games may be classified as blocking or scoring games. Dominoes can also be stacked on end in long lines, and when the first domino is tipped over, it causes the rest of the line to tip over and so on, leading to a complex pattern. This is the source of the popular phrase, “the domino effect,” which describes the way that one event can trigger a chain reaction with much larger consequences.
Domino was born in the United States and emigrated to Australia with her family in the early 1960s. While there, she worked as a model for Australian department store chains. Her modeling work led to a relationship with Milo Thurman, a computer scientist who helped develop the early personal computers.
After being separated from him by Tolliver, who was secretly Cable’s son Tyler, she joined her father’s mercenary team and began working under the name Domino. She has a psionic aura that alters probabilities around her, which can result in anything from an enemy’s equipment malfunctioning to hitting just the right button to shut down an overloading machine. She also shares a psionic link with Copycat, her former Six Pack teammate.
In her mutant-fighting career, Domino has fought for both human and mutant freedoms, as well as for the right of all people to choose their own destiny. She has been a member of Xavier’s X-Corporation, and she and Sunspot worked undercover as part of Operation Zero Tolerance to infiltrate a medical research facility that was engaged in anti-mutant experiments. She later helped oppose John Sublime’s Third Species mutant organ harvesting organization.
In the Marvel Comics universe, Domino has been a member of the reformed X-Force, helping train them for missions to free mutants sequestered by Malcolm Colcord’s clandestine Weapon X program and in sabotage operations against S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new incarnation of the Six Pack, including the traitorous Agent Brent Jackson. She also worked with X-Force to assist in tracking and defeating the ancient mutant-devouring Skornn entity.
After a period in which Earth was merged into Reality-295, Domino was recruited by G.W. Bridge to help restructure X-Force following the death of its leader, Cable. She helped train the team before investigating a series of murders committed by a feral Grizzly and then rejoined X-Force after learning that Milo Thurman was alive, working undercover as an NSA agent to prevent his cyborg Reavers superior Donald Pierce from using his alleged prophetic abilities for evil. She and the other surviving members of the Six Pack – Grizzly, Hammer, Siryn and Tolliver – helped thwart Pierce’s plan to use mutant emotion-controlling technology on humans. Domino’s psionic aura can be deactivated when she uses her powers for good, which causes her to experience the opposite of what others would consider luck.
